Coutada 7 is a conservation area in Mozambique instituted by Government decree in 1969. The area has 540,800 hectares that are distributed in two provinces, Manica and Sofala, and among five districts - Tambara, Chemba, Guru, Maringue, and Macossa. For decades following the Mozambican independence and civil war, Coutada 7 had no organised activity, which resulted in increasing human settlements and depleted wildlife populations. Today, it is entering a new phase of regeneration, developing into the Zambezi Tambara Conservancy.
Vinson LDA is a Mozambican limited liability company, registered in 2009. The company was formed to develop and sustainably manage conservation areas. Vinson is the concession holder of Official Coutada No.7 for a renewable period of 25 years. Vinson has granted exclusive rights to Zambezi-Tambara Conservancy SA to design, develop, source finance, and implement conservation projects that ensure sustainability in and for Coutada 7.
